Typical Jukido Class
Jukido is a safe and fun way to learn self defense techniques. The sytem is based on ancient Jujitsu that has been applied to today's need. Students will learn to throw and fall safely and then apply these skills to real self-defense. Students will learn the 7 Codes of Bushido: Benevolence, Courage, Honor, Justice, Loyalty, Politeness and Veracity.
A typical Jukido class would include:
- At the start of class - bow to each other and the teacher (a sign of respect)
- Stretching (students are taken through a routine or proper stretching)
- Light excercise
- Practice falling (slowly on mats and learning to roll instead of fall)
- Formal instruction (students pair off and practice lessons)
- Formal throws (throws are practiced according to skill levels)
- Applying skills (testing what has been learned from current and past lessons)
- Fun time (group activities)
- Questions and Answers
- At the end of class - bow to each other and the teacher
There will be other special activities such as demonstrations, board breaking, special guests and more. Testing for higher rank will occur typically at the end of the session.
