Simsbury Jukido

Dojo Rules

  • Bow upon entering and exiting the dojo.
  • Line up your shoes neatly in front of the wall.  Place coats and other items against the wall as well.
  • No running or fooling around in the dojo.  When dressed and ready for class, quietly start your stretching.
  • Line up quickly when two lines are called.  Line up according to rank.  Stand arms length apart with both hands at your side.  Stand tall.
  • Bow to the closest person next to you when asked to pick a partner. If you can't find a partner right away, raise your hand then look for another person with their hand up. If no one else is raising their hand, see the Sensei. Bow again after working out together. This is a sign of respect to each other.
  • Pay attention to what is being taught.  Be aware of what you are doing and what your partner is doing.  Always do your best.
  • The safety of your partner is the most important thing to keep in mind.
  • Work out quietly.  Any talking between you and your partner should only be about technique.
  • Never be afraid to ask a question.  If you have a question about what you've been asked to do or if you are having trouble with a technique, just raise your hand.
  • Know the 7 Codes of Bushido:  Benevolence, Courage, Honor, Justice, Loyalty, Politeness and Veracity.
